Beypore lighthouse


The Beypore lighthouse is situated at Feroke, Kozhikkode on the south shore of the Chaliyam River. The light house is a guiding presence for those out at sea. The heritage structure is still functional.The six sided tower has a height of 30.48 meters. The tower is painted with red and white bands.
Built in 1977 the Beypore lighthouse stands tall at 32.41metres. The optical equipment supplied by J Stone and Co has 4 panels and can generate a powerful flash once every 15 seconds at a revolution speed of 2 R.P.M.

The Ethnological Museum


The Ethnological Museum is one of the most informative and interesting storehouse for people who want to know about the Tribes of Kerala. The Museum is a part of the Kerala Institute for Research, Training and Development Studies of Scheduled Castes and Tribes (KIRTADS), and houses a large collection of artefacts, costumes, jewellery, household utensils, nets and traps, wood carvings, agricultural tools, musical instruments, and ceremonial paraphernalia of all the Tribal communities in Kerala. There are also displays of the various cultural features and backgrounds of each and every Tribe living in Kerala. Besides, there are the costumes of various performing arts and handicrafts made by the members of Schedules communities. Research and development work done by the government for the development of indigenous groups is also well documented.
It was established in 1973 with an objective to collect a wide range of items of cultural materials from the Tribes in order to assist and guide researchers and students perceiving tribal studies. The Ethnological Museum is dedicated to preserve and interpret the rich and unique culture of the indigenous people.

Calicut International Airport (IATA: CCJ), also known as Karipur Airport, is an International Airport is located in Karipur, Malappuram district about 25 km (16 mi) from the city of Malappuram and 28 km (17 mi) from the Kozhikode Railway Station. Air India Express has a base at the airport. It is the seventh busiest airport in the country in terms of international passenger traffic and the ninth busiest airport in India in terms of overall passenger traffic.

Mananchira lake



Mananchira is a man-made freshwater lake situated in the centre of the city of Kozhikode (Calicut) in Kerala, southern India. The lake is 3.49 acres (14,120 m2) in area, is rectangular in shape and is fed by a natural spring.Mananchira Square is an architectural delight named after the man-made lake Mananchira around which it is situated in the centre of the city. It is named after Manadevan Samoothiri, the erstwhile ruler of the Kozhikode Kingdom, known as Mana-vedan Chira (pond) and later transformed to Mana-an-Chira.. The architecture in Mananchira Square is reminiscent of the intricate craftsmanship of olden times. With its meticulously landscaped lawns, musical fountain& open air theatre, making this makes for a perfect setting to attract tourists

What to see: The sprawling pond, ground and the garden around.
Where to eat: The top form restaurant. If you miss this you missed the real taste of Calicut Biriyani
When to visit: Ideal for an evening stroll till late in the night.

Krishna Menon Museum


Krishna Menon Museum started in 1975, the art gallery has an excellent collection of original paintings by  Raja Ravi Varma. A total of 66 paintings are exhibited here which include contemporary paintings and replica of traditional murals from Kerala, Ajantha and Somappalli, Chinese, Japanese, Rajasthan, Mughal and Bangali paintings are also displayed here.The Krishna Menon Museum started in 1976 is an excellent tribute to the late. V K Krishna Menon, renowned statesman of free India. His personal belongings and souvenirs are at display.The art gallery and Krishna Menon Museum are functions in a two storied building which is an annex to Pazhassiraja Museum. Earlier this was the residential annex of Malabar Collector’s Bungalow. This Art gallery and museum is under the Department of Museum & Zoo, Govt .Of Kerala.

Timings: 9.30 am to 12.30 pm 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm .Closed on Mondays
